A native of Bern, Switzerland and presently living in Zürich, Willy’s range of musical styles span from Latin, afro, jazz, rhythm and blues, flamenco and free music. He studied Afro-Cuban percussion at the Institute Superior of Art in Cuba and West African percussion in Guinea. Since 1982 he has worked as a professional musician throughout Switzerland and Europe with many groups in a variety of musical settings and styles. Tours outside of Europe include Brazil, Cuba and Africa. His versatility makes him one of the most in-demand players on his instruments. He has played and recorded with many outstanding musicians such as Randy Brecker, Hermeto Pascoal, Miroslav Vitous, Adam Nussbaum, Dom Um Romao,  Jose Merced and Enrique Morente. He teaches percussion, rhythm and movement in the jazz departments at the University of Applied Sciences and Art Lucerne and Zürich University of the Arts.
